What is STLI?
Scientific Technology and Language Institute (STLI) is a development
organization committed to building relationships with the people of
Central Asia through professionals who utilize their skills for the
economic, social, intellectual, health, and spiritual betterment of
the people they serve.

What does STLI do?
STLI provides work opportunities for educators, physicians, nurses, dentists,
business and community development specialists from many countries of the world
to apply their teaching skills in Central Asia.
Why work in Central Asia?
Most of the newly independent Central Asian republics of the former Soviet
Union recognize the need for international assistance in reforming their societies,
economic structures and institutions. The people are friendly and hospitable,
highly educated, in economic difficulties and are open to international help.
How does STLI work there?
Since 1993 STLI works by invitation from local governments, with people and
institutions in Central Asian countries (currently primarily in Kyrgyzstan)
to train and empower them. It provides work opportunities for educators in
computer science and English, primary care physicians, nurse educators, dentists,
business and community development specialists from many countries of the world.

Who is involved? About 80 professionals and nationals from 11 nations
live and work in Kyrgyzstan. Administrative leadership is provided
by a Field Director in Kyrgyzstan, as well as a Director of the International
Office and a Board of Directors in the United States. |
